Ste Craft Brewing

Overview:

Create a complete brand identity for a new high-end Rustic Restaurant and Brewery located in Austin, Texas. The establishment will be known for its live Folk Americana music, locally brewed craft beer, and a nostalgic, old-fashioned rustic atmosphere. The deliverables for this project include a logo, brand guidelines, website design, and social media assets.

The logo name, abbreviated as ‘STE,’ pays tribute to Stephen F. Austin, who is often referred to as the “Father of Texas.” This acknowledgment reflects the importance of his contributions to the state’s history and heritage.

Challenge:

The challenge was to create a logo that appeals not only to beer enthusiasts but also to those who appreciate a good story. We aim to avoid generic beer icons like hops and mugs, as well as clichéd rustic clipart and overly ornate typography. Our goal is to achieve a bold, narrative-driven, minimal yet gritty tone that evokes the feel of old Texan storefronts, broadsides, and vintage matchbooks.

Solution:

To address this challenge, it was crucial to understand the goals, objectives, and creative vision behind the project. We identified and emphasized three key elements for the concept: a monogram style, handmade marks, and a brand stamp. Additionally, we incorporated a bold, storied, minimalist, yet gritty tone and selected core colors that are earth-rich and grounded, such as aged copper, leather brown, and weathered cream. We aimed to convey the idea that this logo should look as if it has been around for 100 years while still feeling fresh and relevant today.

The logomark combines the letters “S,” “T,” and “E” to create a strong monogram. The goal was to develop a design that visually connects music, beer, and soul into a unified identity, representing a brand that comfortably blends heritage with high-end appeal.
